You'll begin this hike in the Historic Silver Falls District which is on the National Registry. Buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the “golden era of park building” in the 1930s -1940s.
South Falls Viewpoint is accessible-for-most and pet-friendly, whereas the trail to go behind the waterfall is not.
Look for the 3 geologic layers of the Columbia River Basalt Flows that make up the canyon walls.
